Exercise

All about consistency.

Since I was a teenager, I'd say I've been pretty active in terms of exercise. I didn't have a car until recently, so anytime I wanted to hang out with my friends, I'd have to skateboard or bike over. These days, it's only really the latter.

I ran a bit in college and still bike quite frequently, and of course play varieties of sports (badly) such as basketball, pickleball, spikeball, and frisbee.

My gym routine

Recently, I've been focusing on muscle growth and strength building. As such, I've been going to the gym three to four times a week, on average, since around March of 2026. Here is my routine:

I. Push

  • Barbell bench press
  • Dumbbell shoulder press
  • Bottom-half cable flye
  • High-cable lateral raise
  • Overhead cable triceps extension
  • Tricep pressdown
  • Roman chair leg raise

II. Pull

  • Lateral pulldown
  • Machine row (or barbell row)
  • Seated cable row
  • Single arm, 45° rear deltoid flyes
  • Shrugs (machine or dumbbell)
  • Preacher curl
  • Hammer curl

III. Legs

  • Leg press
  • Leg curl (seated or lying down)
  • Bulgarian split squats (this one sucks!)
  • Leg extensions
  • Hip abductors (a.k.a. the “sus” machine)
  • Hip adductors (the order doesn't matter)
  • Calf raises

You may notice this routine matches Jeff Nipper's guide from “The Body Transformation System”. I don't have a copy, but a friend did and showed me the routine. It's been great so far, though I would like to get an incline bench somewhere in there.

Hiking

Being from the flat, mountainless city of Miami, I've always had a deep fascination/admiration for hiking and mountaineering especially.

Some of my favorite spots I've hiked at were the Chimney Tops at the Great Smokey Mountains and Old Stone Fort in Tenneessee. Florida has some decent hiking (more like walking) spots, such as the Alford Greenway/Lafayette Heritage park in Tallahassee and scattered patches of forest across central Florida in cities like Kissimmee and St. Cloud.
